What is clean eating?
Clean eating is essentially eating foods that are not processed and that don't include refined sugar, additives and so on.
The Basics
- Eat whole foods
- This means the food hasn't been tampered with.
- This would include things like whole fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low fat dairy products, unsalted nuts and seeds, and grass-fed and free-range meats.
- Avoid processed foods
- Any food that has a label would be considered processed.
- Whole grain pasta and natural cheeses don't need to be eliminated.
- The fewer the ingredients on the label the better. If you can't pronounce an ingredient, pass it up.
- Eliminate refined sugars
- Refined sugars are empty calories meaning they provide no nutritional value.
- Great alternatives would be limited amounts of raw honey and pure maple syrup.
- Instead of artificial sweeteners use trivia (no sugar added) or stevia.
- Eat 5 or 6 small meals per day
- Eating smaller meals helps keep your metabolism in motion.
- It will also help you to never feel hungry or deprived.
- Cook your meals
- Cook from scratch. This means if it comes in a box its probably not your best option.
- Slice, dice, and sauté is the healthiest and tastiest way to to make meals you and your family will love.
- Combine protein with carbs
- Make sure your meals and snacks are balance. This will help keep you satisfied.
- This includes combing protein with carbs or carbs and fat.
- This helps to eliminate junk food cravings.

- Foods high in micronutrients help reduce cholesterol levels and help regulate blood sugar.

- There are nutrients in whole foods that cannot be provided through supplements.
- Helps the digestive system do its work.
- Helps you feel stronger and more active.
- By avoiding artificial ingredients your body system works more effectively.
